The Sacramento Christian Organization of Parent Educators is a nonprofit Christian organization established in 1984. Our purpose is to provide information, support, encouragement and training to private, independent home educators in the Sacramento area. Governed by an elected Board of Directors who adhere to a Statement of Faith, we believe our children are gifts from God and that the Holy Scriptures grant Christian parents the right and responsibility to teach and train their children according to Biblical standards. If you are a home educator not under the jurisdiction of a government school, we invite you to take advantage of the following valuable benefits by becoming SCOPE subscribers:

Monthly Chat Group Meetings

Chat Groups are designed to provide on-going support for parents in regional small-group settings.  Chat group members also sponsor and organize activities, field trips, group learning classes and parties for the children, often enjoying group discounts for these activities.  Those inquiring may attend three meetings or activities before deciding to become subscribers.  All chat group members must be SCOPE subscribers.    Chat FAQs

Monthly Newsletter
Subscribers receive SCOPE News, our monthly publication, which serves to keep subscribers informed of  various activities and pertinent information affecting home educators in the greater Sacramento area.  
Includes inspiring articles and regular columns to encourage and challenge parents in this important calling.
Resource Library
The SCOPE Library offers many free resource materials including curricula, audio cassettes, videos, parenting books and inspirational reading available for one month check-out by our subscriber families.
Annual Used Book Sale
Subscribers enjoy FREE admission to this yearly event, giving participants a means of purchasing inexpensive educational materials.  Also allows you to sell your own used books, as a blessing to others!
Annual Home School Conference and Curriculum Fair
Subscribers receive discounted admission to this rejuvenating yearly event.  An exhibit hall features home education vendors for easy purchasing.  Nationally know keynote speakers are highlights, as are the many encouraging and informative parent-teacher's workshops offered.  A great opportunity to network with other parents and get your questions answered!
HSLDA Membership Discount
Home School Legal Defense Association provides legal coverage to home educating families for $115 per year.  With our SCOPE group discount you pay only $95 per year, a $20 yearly savings for our subscribers.

David Gadd Memorial Scholarships
Two $500 scholarships are available annually to students of subscribers.  Scholarships may be used for a variety of post-secondary programs including college, seminary, ministry training or apprenticeships. Awarded in memory of home educating father and former SCOPE News editor, Mr. David Gadd.

Randy Aimo Memorial Scholarships
Scope is pleased to administer two brand new scholarships. The Randy Aimo Memorial Scholarships have been graciously funded by Cathy Aimo in loving memory of her husband Randy, who recently went home to be with the Lord. Like the David Gadd Memorial Scholarships, these new scholarships will be awarded annually to one young man and one young woman and may be used for a variety of post secondary programs including colleges, universities, ministry training schools, and apprenticeship programs.

Contests and Cash Prizes
SCOPE Jr. and SCOPE Teen features in our monthly newsletter offer cash prizes to winners of book reports, creative writing and poetry contests.  Children of our subscribers receive affirmation and joy seeing their work published!
Graduation Ceremony
Graduating high school students of subscribers are eligible to participate in a ceremony organized by parents and graduating students.  This is a meaningful event for family and friends to attend and a beautiful way to acknowledge the personal accomplishments and educational achievements of your graduate.
Annual Spell-a-thon, Talent Show and Project Fair
Spell-a-thon raises funds for missions while encouraging students to sharpen their spelling skills.  Talent Show features student's talents and gifts, inspiring usefulness for God's glory.  Project Fair displays science, history and geography projects and awards.
